Wetlands Restoration at Quadra Elementary School

The Strathcona Regional District has received funding to renew the Wetlands Project at Quadra Elementary School which has been taken over by invasive species, especially blackberries.  On Thursday October 1 and Friday October 2 we need to remove blackberry canes and dig out the root crown to remove the core of the root.   On Friday, new native plants will be delivered and positioned.  Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 it will be time to plant, beginning at 10 am. on all four days.  The SRD will provide refreshments and insurance coverage.   Sign in when you arrive and depart.  Any hours you can contribute to this will be very welcome.  If you can help, please come dressed appropriately with any loppers or other tools (labeled with your name) you may have, including buckets and wheelbarrows. The ICAN water Security Team is a partner to this project.
